Brief of Department
|“Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man. Like fire in a piece of flint, knowledge exists in the mind. Suggestion is the friction which brings it out.”
Keeping this purpose in mind, the Department of Education of Sir Gurudas College strives to make sure that student after graduating are able to lead their lives as respectable members of the society
The Department of Education was Started in the year 2004. The first Lecturer of this Dept. was Prof. Anita Chowdhury and after 6 years Dr. Ratna Lodh the present HOD of the joined in the College and took the charge of the Dept. In due course of time the Dept. underwent many changes but gradually it developed and now it is one of the main stream Dept. of the college with a huge strength of 1251 students and 6 (six) Faculty members.

|Library Hour as a part of the class routine has been included from this year apart from the Library Induction Class.|
WALL MAGZINE: – Apart from regular classes our department try to take out the creative thinking among the students. So, we have come up with a wall magazine where all the students have actively taken the participation with their paintings, Poems, Short Stories etc.
SPECIAL CARE:-Along with the normal group of students there are few students who are not physically sound. So, for these students, we the teachers try to give some special classes with special care and attention so that they don’t feel left out in the long run.
EXCURSION: – Education can be gained best when we have contact with the nature as said by Rabindranath Tagore. So keeping this view in mind we had taken our students to visit Thakurbari located in Jorashanko which is the home the great Indian Philosopher Rabindranath Tagore.
GROUP STUDIES:-A study group is a small group of people who regularly meet to discuss shared fields of study. These groups can be found in high school college setting, within companies, occasionally primary/junior school and sometimes Middle School/Intermediate. Professional advancement organizations also may encourage study groups.
PRACTICALS:- It is one of the important paper for the students of third year hons so it is given prior importance with good number of classes and proper guidance on part of teachers.
